AT&T Galaxy S8 and S8+ Receiving Android 8.0 Oreo OTA Updates

AT&T Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ owners has just started receiving the Android 8.0 Oreo updates. The latter has finally released the Oreo update after all major US carriers such as Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile rolled out last week.

AT&T Samsung Galaxy S8+ owners receives  an Oreo update that has bumped up  the baseband version to  G955USQU2CRB9.  While those who got the Galaxy S8 also moved to baseband version G950USQU2CRB9.

Aside from all Android 8.0 Oreo goodies, both phones will also receives Samsung Experience version 9.0 and February’s security patch updates. For further details and full list of changes, hit those links at the bottom of this post.

Again, the update has just pushed by AT&T, and I should point out that the rolling out may take in stages, and this simply means that all AT&T Galaxy S8 and S8+ users may not get an update at the same time.

Dual Messenger


Your Galaxy S8+ has Dual Messenger capability, letting you use 2 accounts on the same chat app. Keep separate accounts for work and home, but on the same phone.

You can find Dual Messenger in Settings > Advanced features.


High contrast keyboard options


Android Oreo provides several different high contrast keyboards to customize your device experience.


Phone screen updates


The new phone screen swaps the “Mute” and “Keypad” icons to help prevent accidentally hitting mute during calls.



So if you own a Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8+ on AT&T, head into Settings > System update.

Samsung launches Galaxy S8 and S8+

Samsung is targeting that both  Galaxy S8 and S8+ plus could sell as many as 53 million this year. The company also expects that the S8 could cover it losses following the Note 7 recall last year, and it could outsell its predecessor Galaxy S7, S7 edge, and S7 edge plus of which sold fewer than 50 million in 2016.
